Is MAC matte lipstick long lasting?

There are 4 different matte formulas within the 11 textures MAC offer and I, being a matte lipstick obsessive, can easily give you a break down and give some added info and tips on how to increase even their longevity:

• The Retro Matte liquid Lip is the longest lasting formula wearing smoothly and evenly for up to 8hrs and its long wearing, non smudging formula means it will not feather or bleed. It has a pigment that is so intense it easily glides on allowing for play-time to perfect that pout then it dries down completely to a extreme flat matte leaving you with a stamped on look that lasts. Make sure to check out hero shades like Fashion Legacy, and Burnt Spice.
• The longest lasting of all the lipstick bullets is the Retro Matte - like the liquid this is an extreme matte velvet finish with pigment that packs a punch. This also has a 8hr wear that is fade and feather proof! This is the formula where you will find the iconic Ruby Woo.
• Next up is the Matte Texture, also found in the original bullet Lipstick. This is the most popular of all 11 lipstick formulas with 35 shades like Velvet Teddy, Mehr, Lady Danger and Russian Red. This formula is long lasting but has a creamier texture than the Retro Mattes making it a very comfortable and flexible matte to wear.
• Lastly, there is the Powder Kiss Hazy Matte Lipstick. Offering up to 10 hours of wear, this unique formula combines long-lasting colour with a comfortable, moisture-infused matte finish. Designed to create a soft-focus, blurred effect, it's perfect for achieving effortlessly diffused lips and seamless ombré looks while feeling lightweight throughout the day.

No matter what formula you choose I would recommend Prep + Prime Lip as a base- a matte lipstick needs a matte lip conditioner- otherwise the formula will break down from the residual grease. This also acts like velcro to lipstick! Just one quick coat (not too much!) is all you need. Apply, then let it get tacky - that's when you know its ready to grab hold of that product! It prevents feathering, bleeding, aids in longevity (especially great for Powder Kiss) and millions swear by it to help with the comfort of wearing even the most extreme matte formulas. Pairing up with a Lip liner will also help lock a lipstick in- we often put an entire base coat of liner on then apply the lipstick on top. and an added makeup artist tip is to blot your application with a tissue, re-apply that way you have two sheer layers that lay on top of each other and lastly you can even set with invisible powder! So while there are 4 formulas of matte, the Matte, Retro Matte and Retro Matte Liquid Lip are the main formulas I use when on set for TV or design looks for stage - they are impactful in their colour payoff but most importantly will last for the performance and more.
