Fleur De Force has literally written the books on beauty, fashion and lifestyle, guiding women to live to their fullest, most glamorous potential. As one of the early pioneers of YouTube makeup tutorials as well, she’s taken her place as one of Britain’s best-loved influencers ¬– and with her dedication, sweet disposition and always-positive outlook, it’s easy to see why. Here, Fleur pays loving homage to her community of fans and the nature of the beauty world.
What’s behind your passion for makeup and beauty?
I love how makeup allows you to experiment with the way you look and explore your creativity with nothing but your face as the canvas. My favourite part of being in the beauty world is discovering new products ¬– I love the innovative nature of it all! Unravelling new, exciting textures, formulas and techniques is what I enjoy doing most.

How did you begin your career as a beauty, fashion and lifestyle influencer?
I started creating content for YouTube almost eight years ago, so things were a little different. No one was doing it full-time then. We posted content purely for the sake of sharing something we love and as a way to connect with fellow beauty addicts. The YouTube community was so strong in the early days – it’s what made me really fall in love with that digital space.
What’s your advice for others dreaming of rocking the beauty world as an influencer?
My advice is to always be passionate about what you’re talking or writing about. Don’t just copy what everyone else is doing because you think it’s the way things are done! Don’t be scared to break from the norm a little bit. Vlogging is all about connecting with your audience. If you’re passionate about what you’re talking about, you’re more likely to build a loyal and dedicated following.
Do you have a personal beauty philosophy?
Don’t knock it till you’ve tried it! Of course certain beauty looks won’t suit everyone, but I think it’s great to break out of your comfort zone every now and then by trying new colours, products and techniques. There’s always more to learn when it comes to beauty.
How did you decide on your M·A·C Lipstick shade?
It was actually really easy! I wanted it to be my perfect everyday “natural lips but better” nude shade. This kind of colour is my go-to, and it’s the one that the majority of my audience would also love.
However, when it came to actually formulating the colour in the lab, it was so much harder than I expected. I tweaked it about 50 times! I think the team in the lab helping me must have been exasperated by the end of the process. I was being such a perfectionist, but they were so kind and let me change the colour continually. I’m super happy with the final shade – it was definitely worth the extra time!
“It was then that I realized the real power of blogging. It’s not just sharing your life and opinions online, but creating real connections with people all over the world.”
Fill in the blank: My Lipstick goes best with ________.
Absolutely everything in your makeup bag!
Why is your Lipstick a great fit for your fans?
My audience is made up of savvy, modern women that want to do their research before investing in new beauty products. They want to know that the products will not only perform but also be very well-used. I think they are going to love this Lipstick! It’s the perfect staple colour – the kind you repurchase again and again, a constant in your handbag and makeup stash. It’s in my favourite formula – cremesheen – so the texture is incredibly comfortable. Plus, that classic finish never goes out of style!
What was the most amazing and impactful experience you had with a fan?
I remember meeting two of my fans at Beautycon New York about five years ago. They were sisters who in the space of about six months they had tragically lost both of their parents. They were absolutely amazing, positive women who told me how my content had helped them through such a hard time. It was then that I realized the real power of blogging. It’s not just sharing your life and opinions online, but creating real connections with people all over the world. Some might think that beauty and fashion are light-hearted, even superficial, but after experiences like this I began to really value what I do more ¬– and recognize how special relationships with my viewers are.
